Police Report, Oct. 25

Today

— Bids close on prints and originals by local and national artists at the Austin Area Art Center’s silent auction fundraiser. Business hours are 12 to 4 p.m.

— The American Legion, Post 91, has dollar burgers and plays Texas Hold’Em from 2 to 6 p.m.

— Eagles Officers Omelets, 9 a.m. to noon.

— Eagles all you can eat tacos, beginning at noon.

— Austin Symphony Orchestra performs at 2 p.m. in the Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School. The concert, “Enchanted Russia,” features David Hays on violin. Hays is a 1986 AHS graduate, and now a professor at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Austin's Hy-Vee for $8, or at the door for $10. Free for children grades K-12.

— Moose Lodge Sunday Breakfast, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

October 26

— “Mary Lingen Landscapes” in the James Wegner Gallery, Riverland Community College, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

— Prairie Visions Meeting at the Rose Creek Fire Hall, Rose Creek, 7 p.m.

October 27

— Sacred Heart Auxiliary meeting, 9 a.m. in the assisted living dining room.

— Reception, public talk and closing date for Mary Lingen Landscapes exhibit at the James Wegner Gallery at Riverland Community College, noon to 1 p.m.

— “Mary Lingen Landscapes” artist reception and talk in the James Wegner Gallery, Riverland Community College, noon.

— Eagles Aerie meeting, 8 p.m.

— Children’s Story Time at the Austin Public Library, 11 a.m. No registration is required for this free event.

— Austin Catholic Schools Halloween Costume Party for Little Shamrocks (4 and 5 year olds) at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Preschoolers will also have a costume parade around the ACES building at approximately 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

— VFW Stagette, 5 to 7 p.m. All paid post and auxiliary members eat for half price.

October 28

— Tobacco Cessation Support Group meeting at the Patient Education Resource Center in the Tobacco Cessation Clinic on the Main Floor in the Austin Medical Center. Meetings are 5 to 6 p.m. and are free and informal. Call 434-1429.

— Casual Classics Concert featuring David Hovland on piano, performing solo piano selections by Gershwin, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. The concert is free and open to the public at Riverland Community College, East Building, Room E102 from noon to 1 p.m.

— Eagles Hamburger Night or pork tenderloin sandwich, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

— The Annual Holiday Art and Craft Sale at the Austin Area Art Center begins and runs through Dec. 27. There will be no sales tax on purchases made during weekends. Jewelry, pottery, ceramics, photos, paintings and prints by local artists are among things on sale.
