A man protesting a rally against Communism and illegal immigration is taken into custody Saturday following a brief altercation during the rally. At one point a speaker was damaged and items were thrown from the group of protesters. Police used chemical to bring the situation under control.

Mace used at illegal immigration rally; three arrests made

Published Saturday, October 17, 2009

Three arrests were made and mace was used during a rally at the veteran’s memorial in Austin Saturday afternoon.

Austin resident and rally organizer Samuel Johnson said he held the event to fight communism and illegal immigration.

The rally was planned for 3 p.m., but started about 15 minutes early.

Johnson is a member of the National Socialist Movement and has held similar rallies at the same location over the past four months, including one each in June and July that attracted dozens of protesters, but ended in no arrests.

Saturday’s rally began similar to the others, but ended differently.

At about 3:30 p.m., law enforcement officers asked Johnson and his supporters to leave the premises, which they did.

How it began

Using a microphone and flanked by two other men who Johnson said are also members of the National Socialist Movement, Johnson began his message that was protested by a group of about 40.

“We will not give up; we will stand strong,” Johnson said, who ended his short speech with the words “white power.”

The protesting crowd seemed to be made up of several activist groups and mostly younger men and women from the Twin Cities, although at least one resident from Austin, Jonathan Thompson, was among them.

“I think it shouldn’t be allowed,” he said of the rallies. “Free speech is one thing, hate speech is totally different.”

Some of the protesters covered their faces with bandanas, and several wore black sweatshirts with the words Anti-Racist Action on the back of them.

Jake Bell, of Minneapolis, was at the rally and said that he considers himself to be a part of Anti-Racist Action, which he calls a coalition that is generally against racism.

Shortly after Johnson began his message, the crowd started several chants that included “No hate in our state.”

The crowd kept inching its way toward Johnson, the closest ones coming roughly 10 to 15 feet away from him and his supporters.

At least eight law enforcement officers were on scene, including members of the state patrol, Austin Police and the Mower County Sheriff’s Department.

Gold Cross Ambulance and Austin Fire personnel were also nearby at one point.

Mace and arrests

At about 3:10 p.m., a member or members of the protesting crowd damaged part of the sound system Johnson was using.

“The crowd converged among the sound system, pulled it in and started to damage it,” Mueller said. “Mace was used to clear the crowd to give officers access.”

All three protesters who were taken into custody were arrested within the span of about five to 10 minutes and all around the time the damage was done to the sound system.

Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp arrived on the scene in plain clothes.

“It’s unfortunate,” Chief Philipp said of the arrests that were made. “Everyone has a right to say what they want to say in this country, and these things happen. It’s unfortunate people can’t do it without bringing arrests.”

Throughout the protest, several Austin residents were curious about the rally and stopped to listen.

“I can’t believe this is going on,” Austin resident Kristina Reuss said.

At least five members of the Minnesota Peace Team were also at the event, including David Smith, who passed out lollipops and stickers that said, “Respect all beings.”

Smith said he did not represent one side or the other.

“We’re trying to promote a conversation that’s respectful and peaceful,” he said.

Johnson said what happened Saturday will not deter him from planning future rallies.

“I am on a mission for my people, and I am going to continue that mission,” he said. “Our mission is to awaken white people in America to the things that are happening in our government that are bringing our nation down. One of the main things is illegal immigration.”

The three who were arrested included one 21-year-old male, one 20-year-old male and a 21-year-old female.

According to police report, the 21-year-old male, of Memphis, Tenn., was cited for disorderly conduct and held in the Mower County Jail for bail.

The 20-year-old male, of Austin, was cited for unlawful assembly and Fourth Degree Criminal Damage to Property for damaging a speaker.

He said he stepped on the speaker but didn’t do it on purpose.

The 21-year-old female, of Minneapolis, was cited for unlawful assembly and obstruction of the legal process.

Mr Johnson i admire you. I've been following your group for a wail now and believe in your movement. I've wanted to come to your rallies but every time i have had to work. If you do read this which i hope you do i appreciate all your group has done and wish more people could see what you stand for. If there is anything i can do email me at AskTheGman1@gmail.com

Most of us do know what he stands for. I for one dislike everything that this group stands for. This country needs to keep groups like this one in check or we are heading down a road that no one wants to go down except them and thier message of hate. God Bless The USA!

what about the white hate groups. what about gangs started by illegals or started by mexicans and blacks. what about them. Mr Johnsons group is spreading a good word. They don't use violence UNLIKE the protesters in the story above.

LIL let me clarify something for you I dont like any group that teaches hate. Mr Johnson is not any better than all of the groups that you have mentioned. I dont agree with the protesters using violence. This is the US and he does have the right to voice his opion no matter how wrong that I think that he is. But it is also my right to disagree with him or any other hate group.

ummm johnson is racist... to all not just illegals.... as he stated 'white power" how much more of a racist comment do you need to know how racist he really is??? wake up! he is no better then any gang, no matter what race started it. i am against illegal immigration, but i am not racist for it. because if you are here legally you respected the U.S.A. to get here... illegals disrespected us all.

This would be the first time I agreed with you rhino Racism is for Retards. I also would have to say that he has been non violent in these protest so I do respect that... I don't hold his views at all I use to hang out with the guy back in the day and he was cool and was not racist in any shape or form, but it has been years since I have talked to him so I don't know what happened to him that made him this way.

Ok, so when did communism become a problem in Austin?

Posted by dewwhygg (anonymous) on October 18, 2009 at 10:12 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree with the fact that something has to be done to correct the illegal immigration problem, I also agree that it has brought our country down. It costs us taxpayers billions of dollars a year, puts a strain on our medical systems, banks and housing. Wake up America, the keyword here is illegal and anyone that hires them or harbors them and protects them is just as illegal as them and are also breaking the law. I am married to a Chinese women, we went thru the correct channels to get her here, she had to go thru a criminal background check, have a complete physical, it cost us some serious money and we waited for 3 years, this process is in place so we do not end up with criminals, unhealthy diseased people coming into the U.S. , it only makes good sense. But our biggest problem is getting her employment, she has applied 3 times at Austin's number one industry and has not even been given a interview let a lone a chance at employment. If you go to this industry and look around the signage is in both English and Spanish, now to me that is discrimination against all other races, why don't they have signage to help the people that came here legally to be a legal citizen, pay taxes and social security and live by our laws and standards ?? Why is it every time you read about a fruad case in the paper there illegals that work for the number 1 industry here in Austin, yet the Mayor and the Police Cheif say we don't have a problem here with illegals, dah ????

I'm sorry - I'm a citizen journalist from the Twin Cities and although criticism here should really be deserved for the Nazis, I have to say this article was terribly shoddy. Most importantly, it fails to identify the NSM as a Nazi or even white supremacist group, both of which they freely admit they are, as one was even quoted saying in a Herald article last month.

The article also fails to identify the source of the conflict. KTTC even got it right - the arrests of anti-racists only came after one of the Nazis swatted a cell phone from one of their hands, breaking it. You can see that video here: http://www.kttc.com/global/story.asp?s=1... To say it again: A Nazi damaged someone else's property, and the police responded by macing and arresting the anti-racists instead. 98% of the crowd was on on side - against the Nazis, and yet that's who the police targeted.

I would say the resurgence of Nazis in Minnesota is dangerous, except that in reality, there's only four of them - they're just disproportionately loud. Nonetheless, the context of their organization - which the Herald also fails to address - is the underlying, less overt systemic racism particularly directed against undocumented immigrants who are blamed for bringing down wages when in reality it's the bosses who are playing divide and conquer amongst workers.

For more of the story and context, please visit the organization I volunteer for, the Twin Cities (although we cover all of MN) Independent Media Center: http://twincities.indymedia.org - We'll have numerous articles about this situation up in the coming days, although for now you can see some of the facts the Herald left out.

AFRAID OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS?? The group that the Austin community should be most fearful of is Johnson's hate group. Any person that screams "white power" is deranged and ignorant! Any person that agrees with this mentality is equally ignorant. This is definitely a White Supremacist group and Austin does not need this type of trash in our community. Keep in mind that they are promoting hate against ALL ethnic groups, Asians, Hispanics, African-Americans, etc. - next they will be promoting hate against Jews and Catholics – sound familiar?? They are not truly concerned with illegal immigration – it’s just an excuse for many to justify their true prejudices.
This community (especially APD) is taking out all of their anger and frustrations on the immigrant community of Austin. Why not put the pressure on the companies that hire them and/or go to their destitute countries to recruit workers. Yes, recruiters are sent to recruit people in Mexico and Central America, promising employment authorization, travel expenses and sometimes housing. Once they arrive to Austin they are in for a rude awakening and with no possible way to return to their countries. There are always a few bad apples in the bunch, but please do not follow Johnson’s mission of hate and bigotry. Austin residents are far too intelligent to fall prey to Johsnon's antics.
“When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God”.

i may not agree with every thing Mr. Johnson says but i admire him for standing up for his beliefs. I think its too bad that the mexicans, africans, and liberals showed up to ruin it. i was curious about the rally and evan contumplated going but i knew the afor mentioned groups would turn out and cause trouble, thats to bad. I know of a few times over the last few years that there was different groups marching for this or that and i dont ever remember reading about Mr. Johnson or any white people turning out to cause trouble. these people cry every time their rights are supposidly infringed on but if you dont agree with them then stand by because they are going to cause you problems. such a shame.

People can say that these folks are here living productive and otherwise law abiding lives all day long. But it won't change the FACT that every time an anti-illegal immigrant measure is PASSED during a lawful, local election some activist group,in the name of "immigrant rights" will file an injunction to dely, stall or even reverse the implimentation of the election results. In otherwords the voice of WE THE PEOPLE is being squelched and silenced by lawyers representing "otherwise law abiding" illegal foreign nationals. OUR SACRED,PRECIOUS VOTES ARE BEING STOLEN IN THE NAME OF IMMIGRATION 'RIGHTS' and the folks WE ELECTED to represent US are telling US to sit down, shut up and stop hindering profitable progress. That is what upsets me the most.......

This article was horribly written and I highly suggest that this writer collect all of the facts before publishing again. While the nature of this article was very unprofessional and upsetting, the comments that followed it make me sick.

The article states that the rally was held to fight illegal immigration and communism. If any time was taken to google the national socialist movement you would find that they are a group of "non-Semitic heterosexuals' of European Descent". Kinda explains the swastika's they wear doesn't it. And might have served as a reason to throw in a quote of equal value from the opposing party...you know to remain unbiased.

Another note that both KTTC and The Herald have gotten wrong is that the majority of the protesters were from the cities. A large number were, but no more than 40 of them were from the cities. They were mostly members of the Anti Racism ASSOCIATION, however this has been going on at least all summer and has picked up a lot of interest, especially from the surrounding business owners and veterans.

Lastly the bandannas are to protect the protesters from being plastered all over the NSM website. They do this to avoid harassment. I loved how your description of the protesters made them sound like a gang from the cities. Once again wonderful job remaining unbiased. Maybe it would have been beneficial to mention that the NSM wears swastikas...hmm

Anyways wonderful way to make it seem like a gang randomly attacked someone supporting moral values...ick spare me.

I had been looking at The Herald and trying to decide if I would like to use my communication degree to work at a small newspaper. But it seems this paper lacks the professionalism to print unbiased material, if it can spew this out and spread it to the masses. Can you tell that I am beyond disgusted.

So am I to understand that a 'coalition' calling itself 'Anti-Racist Action Association' came all the way to Austin from Minneapolis, Minn. to stifle free speech in Texas simply because they disagreed with the messege? I do not support socialism, national socialism or racism.....but I will always defend free speech whether it be consider 'hate' speech or not. My god,if these kids from Minn. had been around 200 yrs. ago they would have hounded John Hancock for signing the Declaration of Indedendence.....Shame on them!!!!

I participated in this protest and I would like to thank bjhokanson for his accurate comments. There were people of all ages there from various locations including the twin cities. There were young, middle age and senior citizens from Austin. Minnesota Peace Camp from the twin cities was there, as a neutral party, helping to keep things calm. I agree with "bj's" comments regarding this story. As many people as Mr. Richards talked to, he certainly didn't put much in the article. And the macing of several individuals and erroneous arrest of a protester is due to the over-reaction of one police officer - once again Austin's finest jumping in to make a mess where there wasn't one!! These Nazis are in town to do one thing and that is to incite the citizens and create an even more tense situation than there already is. If the citizens of Austin want these people to stay away, I would suggest participating in the next protest, because they will be back and WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY STAY AWAY!! AUSTIN DOESN'T NEED THIS!!!!

One more thing - Mr. Johnson was asked by a WW II vet if he had God in his heart. Mr. Johnson's comeback was "I have Hitler in my heart" - all the while standing on the veterans' memorial!!! This group (NSM) is nothing but a bunch of hate-spewing ______. well, you fill in the blank, I can't use that language or I'll get yanked by ADH!!!

every one wants mr johnson and his people out but what about the illegals and all the mexican and african gang members when i am in austin i see them every where nobody wants them out?

Posted by Doufish2 (anonymous) on October 19, 2009 at 12:48 p.m. (Suggest removal)

As I sit here during my lunch reading all the previous messages, it really saddens me that a small American town like Austin is being used by both sides and too a point, both are right.

First, Johnson has the right to any belief that he wants. I agree with him on the illegal immigrant stance that he has taken and we all should. They are taking jobs and committing crimes against the people in Austin. What happens the day an immigrant kills someone? I can hear it now "Why didn't someone do something", never fails.

Second, Mr Johnson spewing about Hitler is ridiculous. Hitler tried mass murder, and it was nothing but that, to purify the white race. He should never be anyones idol.

Third, the people in Austin need to pull their heads out of the sand, stand up and do something. People coming down from the cities or coming from anywhere else for that matter, should stay out of it.

If the immigrants go thru the proper channels, they are more than welcome. You will have rights. If not, they have no rights and should be deported.

Austin used to be a damn good town to live in. Your local government has blinders on and don't see what's going on, and don't want to know what's going on because Austins biggest employers have hired these people and protect them.

Do we need a police state, like Hitler's Germany, stopping people on the street, checking ID or green card? I hope not, then Mr Johnson and his Hitler ideology wins. Maybe they can be given Yellow stars to wear on their shirts?

I agree with you Doufish2, why are the two options so radical. If you are against Mr. Johnson you support illegal immigration and if you are think something needs to be done you are painted as a nazi. The point is that having this radical of a stance, where immigration is not their main focus is not what I want to be associated with. I agree 100% that something needs to be done about this situation but I do not want to hear about it from a neo-nazi.

Posted by formeraustinian (anonymous) on October 19, 2009 at 2:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Doufish - you're such a doofuss - You are correct Mr. Johnson has a right to believe in any ideology that he wants, HOWEVER, when he spouts this ideology(and we won't even debate the type of ideology) in front a veteran's memorial in my hometown, you can bet your butt that I will be there to let him know that type of information is not welcome here - AND I HAVE JUST AS MUCH RIGHT AS HE!! The illegal immigration issue is not an "Austin" problem, it's a National issue and people need to look in the direction of the corporations that are enabling this problem and to the Federal lawmakers to fix the system. Illegal immigration has been a problem for this Country long before it ever hit Austin. Austin HAS turned into a "police state" - the cops are profiling all hispanics now and that is not correct either!!! Those out-of-towners came here to support this Country and the people of Austin and to let Mr. Johnson know his ideology is not welcome in Austin. So I challenge you Mr Doufish2 if you want Austin to be a good town again - get off your rump and do something - write your congressman, boycott Hormel products, but stop bitching in the paper postings and DO SOMETHING!!!

Horrible reporting on the Herald's part! Sam Johnson is a neo-nazi whose organization supports the deportation of all people of color and gay people (that's right folks, they want to deport the gays!)

The issue at heart is that these neo-nazis are trying to co-opt and make the anti "illegal immigrant" movement even more overtly racist than it already is, and spread bonehead gang "culture" into the area. Too bad Mr. Johnson and Mr. Hester are old, unattractive, and overweight. The young people of Austin have no interest in neo-nazi gangs. Latinos, natives, whites, blacks; we all need to unite together to stop the deportations and exploitation. Immigrant workers are our brothers and sisters!

These neo-nazis are getting no where with their rallies, I don't think even agent provocateurs could make the anti-immigrant bigot movement look more silly.

Posted by formeraustinian (anonymous) on October 19, 2009 at 2:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

leftys - This isn't about illegal immigration I was there, Mr. Johnson and friends were only there to incite people with their "white pwoer" retoric and this is the last thing that Austin needs is someone creating more trouble. They don't care about immigration - THEY'RE NAZIS - GET IT!!! All they want to do is spout their hatred of anyone that's a different color than white. For you to make a STUPID comment that "anyone that protests Mr. Johnson is for illegal immigration" is one of the worse things you have ever said!!! The reason I'm so radical AGAINST Johnson is because I HATE NAZIS and everything they stand for. i saw their stupid uniforms, gustapo boots and insignias they were wearing - I saw the Nazi flag they wanted to display. So don't try to tell me Mr Johnson is just trying to fight illegal immigration - I WAS THERE - I SAW AND HEARD IT ALL!! If you truly believe in Mr Johnson's message then I would have to say to you that you must also have Hitler in your heart, just like Mr. Johnson said he has!!!!! I used to sort of respect some of your posts, but from this last one, I am rethinking that opinion!!

To former austinian,
I have done something. I have contacted my Rep many times. I will not and have not eatin a HORMEL product since the strike.
Mr Johnson spouting off in front of the veterans memorial is crap. I was never in the military, but have much respect for yesterdays and todays military. If it wasn't for them, where would we be?
As I said earlier, his ideolgy is just plain wrong, but, his premise of illegal immigrants in our nation is right on and by him bringing this to the locals attention, it is doing something. Spewing his hate, a.k.a Hitler ramblings, is pure stupidity. Stirring the pot, yes, but voicing an opinion, something politicians don't want us to do, is his right.
You are correct, this is not an "Austin" problem. This is a national problem that we need to solve.

Former, I was agreeing with you. I said that is how they try to make case to state their outrageous point. I am sorry that you misunderstood what I meant. My point was that you can be against illegal immigration and not be a neo-nazi.

Posted by formeraustinian (anonymous) on October 19, 2009 at 4:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sorry for misunderstanding Leftys!! The fact is, Mr Johnson is a Nazi and he can complain about illegal immigration all he wants - but that's not what "they" were doing. If all they wanted to do was spout off about illegals it would be one thing, but when they talk of "white power" I refuse to let that be heard!!

doufish - The Nazis are using this illegal immigration issue to spout their hatred. Mr Johnson may say it's all about illegals, but once again, I heard his rantings and they're not all about illegals, the nazis are using this subject to promote their propaganda. They hate all people of color, not just the illegals coming into this Country! Please recognize that and not try to justify Johnson's hateful rhetoric as doing something to eliminate the illegal problem. That's not his/their agenda!!!!!

Posted by pandulche (anonymous) on October 19, 2009 at 4:17 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The neo-nazis may be a lunatic fringe, but their position on immigration is essentially the same as all the other "patriotic" anti-"illegal" bigots. People need to leave behind the settler-state mentality and realize that being born on one side of a river shouldn't be what determines your privileges and status as a human being. Johnson's an idiot yes. Smart though in using illegal immigration to further his stupid cause. I am proud of the people who were there on the other side standing up against these hateful NSM members. They are not helping any cause or even really care about illegal immigration. All they care about is like other's have said in spreading hate and trying to recruit. He keeps having these "demon-strations" at the Veterans Memorial which is just wrong! He hasn't fought for this country one damn bit! Does he actually think he's fighting for this country spreading racism and hate? All he thinks is that he should have everything handed to him on silver platter. All because of the way he thinks that he's superior to others. Well got news for ya big boy---You aren't better than anyone else! There will never be an ALL WHITE populated USA! If you want to live that way--MOVE! Find an island! Whatever! Wake up! Hitler would have killed you for just being an American! IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least someone is stading up & saying something about the illegal's in this town. Maybe if the elected city officials did something this guy wouldn't have to. Like it or not. His word is getting out there about the illegals in this town. I give him credit for standing up for what is right.

I grew up in Mower County and I proudly served my country for several years in both enlisted and officer capacities in the US Army. I don't recall racism as part of the values instilled in me during my childhood or in during my time as a soldier. Mr Johnson, using a veterans memorial to spew hatred is beyond the pale. You're entitled to your opinion...I served to defend your right to be wrong...but don't insult my fallen brothers and sisters by using their memorial as a back drop.

It would seem that many of you have your shorts in a knot over the word "Nazi"...and what button the name pushes in your memory and indoctrination. I do not support hate or racism.

The Nazis deserve the scorn of the world..and scores of other dictators deserve the same. But where is the scream against Communism?

Yup, the Nazis were a bad group. They are "historically" known by the world. Most Americans hate them for the killings of the Jews. Of course the nazis were not the only forces to do this.

But millions of other(s) people were killed as well. European and American white people suffered even more deaths. But this seems not to put the hate in the minds of many people.

There are scores of dictators...early and in the present...who have slaughtered millions upon millions of people. Why are they not remembered ... or why don't they push some buttons for some people? Why does not their history...at least once a year ... be presented before the world to hate?

Those of you who think that you should hate Hitler...take a look at this list.
Stalin..commie. Hitler...facist. Mao tse-Tung..commie. Leni n...commie. Hochi Minh..commie. Kim II Sung...commie. Hussein. Pol Pot...commie. Mussolina..facist. de Salalar..facist. Antonescu...facist. Pavelil..facist. Gheorghiu..commie. Tito..commie. Haile...commie. LeDuan....commie. Leduan...commie. Karmal..commie. Miloseic...facist. Bashir...commie. Castro...commie. Chevalier...commie. ......and the list could go on to list scores of Middle East killers and murderers of millions of people.

Now, I am asking why the word nazi evolkes so much hate from some people? Nazi are but one ... they are not the force now.... I tell you to look out for socialism and communism. There is the danger.

Do any of you see a larger force in history and threat for our nation ...from the list above? Look closely.

If any of you would like to see hate and racism in America....check out La Raza. And then let us discuss the illegal alien invasion. I will not be wearing a black uniform or carrying a insigna.

I will be carrying an AMERICAN FLAG proclaiming my Constitutional right to be on the streets of Austin to protest illegal immigration. I will continue to try to educate and wake people up to the third world illegal alien foreign national invasion of The United States. Please do not shoot the messenger.

Hey knight - we know what you truly are, don't come to this site and think you won't be remembered - you're right up there with Mr. Johnson and belong to the same "movement" - go away, you're kind is not welcome here. You're twisting words, but your message is still the same. LaRaza is not a rascist group - they do not spew hatred - but yours does!! And yes the word Nazi does frighten some, but not those of us that know your true agenda, we will always be ready to fight NSM's message!!!!

It is the hate that the word means.

Posted by knight777 (anonymous) on October 20, 2009 at 11:36 a.m. (Suggest removal)

former:
You are the perfect example of the old man with no knowledge. You know the type I mean. It is easier for you to drivil than for you to do some thinking and fact finding before you print your personal hate. Keep on writing former. Your hate is great to read.

You (and others) have every right to be angry at the German Nazis of history. But why do you choose them and not the murdering communists? You fear nazism but deny the dangers of communism, communists and socialists that are on a path to destroy your nation. Right now!. Right here!

Illegal immigration is a huge part of this goal. If you did your reading and research you would be shouting a different story.

The following are just a few short quotations from La Raza..Read it, do more research..and then come back and tell us all about La Raza (THE RACE).

Jose Angel Gutierrez .. professor at the University of Texas, Arlingotn..founder of La Raza Unida political party.

"We have an aging white America..They are dying....They are s......g in their pants with fear! I love it".

"We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him".

And.. a truly classic maniacal racist rant from a Hispanic professor...a leader of the La Raza movement.

"The border remains a military zone. We remain a hunted people. Now you think you have a destiny to fulfill in the land that historically has been ours for forty thousand years. And we're a new Mestizo nation. And they want us to discuss civil rights. Civil rights. What law made by white men to oppress all of us of color, female and male. This is our homeland. We cannot-we will not--and we must not be made illegal in our own homeland. We are not immigrants that came from another country to another country. We are migrants, free to travel the length and breadth of the Americas because we belong here. We are millions. We just have to survive. We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. It's a matter of time. The explosion is in our poulation" .

"We have this bright future because we have the critical mass".

"We have the means now to take government and to lead. We have to get busy to work on our skills, our abilities, our competency to build that social capital, so we can be excellent leaders ...".

"OUR DEVIL HAS PALE SKIN AND BLUE EYES".

These are statements from a founder of La Raza! Of course Gutierrez denies those statements...but they happen to be in print and on tape. Take a good look at La Raza .. and then you try to tell us they are not racist and what their goals are.

The Hispanic cacus in Congress is just one of their spearheads. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is another. The crooked politicans, foundations, elites, big business, churches, and people like you former..are the aiders and abettors and a serious part of this socialist illegal alien invasion of my country.

knight - I'm so glad you included churches in all of those so-called aiders and abettors. That means I'm in good company!! Unlike you that breeds nothing but hatred of anyone of a different race, I embrace the different cultures in this Country. If you would stop your stupid rhetoric about hating those of color and actually get to know the individuals you would find... oh, wait that's right you couldn't do that, you have Hitler in your heart. This nation has an immigration problem and it needs to be settled at the national level. Not by some jerk like you spouting about white power and "let's get everyone out of the country that isn't white." And as far as your inane LaRaza talk - I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!! I know more about LaRaza than you'll ever read about!!! Not to mention, those statements have been taken out of context - so stuff it!!!

Posted by pixilatedskies (anonymous) on October 20, 2009 at 1:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

knight77,

You need to do a little bit more research. The first mistake that I caught from you was your translation of La Raza. It translates to "the people" or "the community" not the race as you stated. I can see how it could easily be mistranslated, but you have to realize that not everything translates correctly. For example if I was to say que paso it would translate into "what step" when it really means whats up.

If you want to fight illegal immigration, more power to you. You argue that you are fighting for this cause basically because they are racist towards you. Now you seem like you have the capability to think, you just aren't doing it. I do not believe that La Raza is a racist organization, however stepping into your shoes and pretending that they are it would be smart of you to not fight back with racism. When you stoop to the stupidity of others they have won.

It is foolish to think that these people come here with the sole intention of wiping out the white race. They come here to improve their standard of living and support their families back home. I am all for supporting standard of living, however not so much for supporting families back home just because of what it does to the worth of the dollar. We are already having issues with China and our national deficits, we really don't need anything that would assists us toward breaking chi-merica any more.

And yes, the list of socialists and communists can go on and on. And yes there are others that are more current and more of a national threat. There is even a current genocide going on as I write. But they are not the ones standing in front of my town's court house spewing their propaganda. Which in case you didn't notice is what the article is about, it isn't about the other socialist and communist groups...

There are so many more effective ways to accomplish your end goal without hate, and it seems that both sides have plenty to go around. Hate will not bring people towards your support, instead it will do the opposite, as I hope you are able to clearly see. You have the right to your opinion, but you should really educate yourself with reliable resources. It is sad that in an age of mass information how easily facts are misconstrued. I hope that one day you can look back and see that you are not helping the situation, just damaging it further.

Posted by pixilatedskies (anonymous) on October 20, 2009 at 1:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Formeraustinian,

You have the right to your opinion and you seem like a very passionate person. There are pros and cons to both sides of the illegal immigration argument, and I would agree with you that the NSM is disgusting. However no one is going to take you seriously if you talk like a hormonal adolescent.

Posted by formeraustinian (anonymous) on October 20, 2009 at 2:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

pixi - I would love to be a hormonal adolescent again!! But, I'm so sorry you think of my "rantings" in that manner. Yes, I hate racists and will not tolerate anyone spouting "white power" while standing at the Veteran's Memorial in my hometown!! The knight has been to this site before, the last time the NSM's were in town, and his postings then were even more slanted in favor of the NSM's, I believe him to be a member. Maybe next time you should show up at one of his demonstrations and then you can stand on his side when he bitches about the illegal immigrants. One last item - a correction to your original post - it's the Anti-Racist Action Network that was one of the groups, and the Minnesota Peace Team was another. I'm not in favor of immigrants entering this country illegally. But even more than illegal immigration, I WILL NOT TOLERATE RACISM!! So if that's sounding like a hormonal adolescent, so be it!!!

Posted by pixilatedskies (anonymous) on October 20, 2009 at 4:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I will not tolerate racism either darling there are just more efficient manners to go about things. Screaming and violence is gonna get you no where very fast. I have been to almost every protest and the last time was almost arrested for "loitering". Anyways, thank you for the assumptions on my beliefs. Just so you know I am a second generation "American" and here is a bit of irony my family were illegal Germans...read into that whatever you may.

As far as I know that anti-racist action does not have an official Minnesota chapter and while I was talking to one of the ladies that assists with legalities at the rally she had said association so thank you for correcting me.

Racism happens every single day in this town to the extremes. My daughter is half Mexican and I can not even begin to explain to you how we are treated when we go out as a family. What happened at this protest gave the NSM the attention they are craving. Why feed into that? It is one thing to show up and be able to voice your opinion and make them seem like the imbeciles that they are, but it is another thing to do what happened at the last protest. And yeah they batted a cell phone out of someone's hand but they were throwing glitter bombs and I am pretty sure there was a bucket of rotten apples too.

They have all made the news, yet this has probably drawn the most attention at it was negative toward those that were protesting. This is a small town mentality and for the most part full of sheep. I mean read the article and comments above for christsake. So while I do love your passion, to make a difference in this town you really have to adapt your manner. Most people don't understand what is going on nor do they understand the full context of the immigration argument. Instead they resort to anger when anyone challenges what they have been spoon fed. And in this town the ones that stick out from the crowd will be the ones that get punished. Just saying maybe it is time to do something different than make assumptions and yell.

I am returning to the background because for some reason I think posting on this feed is going to be futile. So best of luck to you and your methods.

Those that think these NSM's will go away if they are ignored are like the ostrich that hides it's head in the sand. When they think no one is watching them is when they do their best work. That's when they have to time to recruit that one person that may show up "to just ask questions" - that's when they begin spreading their hate. And DARLING what makes you think I was screaming or violent? Were you there? Do you know who I am? Quit assuming you're ideas are so superior and go stick your head back in the sand!! I'll be there to make sure they don't hurt you!!

former:

You need to get help. Your anger and hate is destroying you, and will destroy those around you. Your writings are filled with hate and ignorance. Please get help soon.

You are writing lies old man. People know where I stand and why I stand. Your distortions will only get you into trouble. Believe me.

Illegal immigration is not a racist issue. It is a legal issue...just as it should be. But those who aid and abet illegals just shout the "racist" word and expect everyone to run for cover. How stupid is that?

I have said before that I am against ILLEGAL immigration. Doesn't matter what color, race or origin. You have made it a racial issue and your accusations are insulting. If you or your kind were invading my country I would be against you as well. Even you should have to obey United States Federal Immigration laws. And I would be there to see that it is done.

As for La Raza (The Race). Former, you are too ignorant and lazy to do the research. But you can run your mouth with accusations and lies..believing that you know the facts. Plain and simple..you do not know squat.

The quotes that I made are true. For those of you who do not belive their goals...go to some of their meetings, look at the flags and signs they wave, their demands, their politics, the pictures/ slogans on their T-shirts and listen to their chants. Some of this stuff comes right out of Cuba and Columbia...communist ! And there is much more evidence supporting their agendas.

Please do not be misled or indoctrinated by their (La Raza and the others) smoke screens to the public. Their socialist agendas and goals are very evident. Illegal Immigration is there business. Illegal aliens is their product. Domination is their goal.

Yes, churches do aid and abet illegal aliens. They put church doctrine over Federal Laws. Remember the Dark Ages and the Inquistion? What role did the church play then. Churches and religion are not above the law. Long ago people determined that there had to be a balance and religion must obey (as everyone else) the laws set by soverign nations and society of that nation.

The opposition of the nazi group came prepared and organized to present their hate and a willingness to attack.
Again, I am not defending the speaker group. But the speakers had the right to speak and the hate groups that you support comes to attack.. the offending law breakers were arrested. If that does not fit into your hate...then you can blame only yourself.

And you "former". When you see me on your streets....come on over and we can discuss illegal immigration (if you can leave your "racist" at home) and I will show you the laws...I can read you our Constitution...and I will show you facts and figures. I may even teach you a little history.

Until then former, try to get rid of your hate and lies. You will live longer. If you can't do this...please keep writing here. You stir your own pot of hate.

.

Let's get 3 things straight - 1st I am not male; 2nd I am not old; 3rd I am white, born and raised in good old Austin MN. Now, where are you from? Austin? Will you even answer this question? I doubt it!! You are only on this website to continue to stir the NSM's pot! If you read from my posts that I hate the members of the NSM, you are correct. I will not turn the other cheek towards any member of the NSM's. They are a hate group associated with the Nazi ideology or I prefer to cut to the chase and just admit - THEY ARE NAZIS. So if you want to continue to lie about your agenda, go right ahead. But I got your number!!

Hopefully know one gets injured.

former:\

Thank you for your description. Next time I see you on the street I will drop a dollar in your can.

Again you lie former. My reason here is to try and enlighten some people about Illegal Immigration and the danger it poses to this nation. I have been writing on this site for awhile now....much longer than your encounter with the black uniformed nazis.

You have such a narrow vision of the illegal immigration problem...probably you have never been more than 50 miles from Austin...but there are millions of us out here that know what is happening and are fighting for our country. It is obvious that you do not know a thing about the invasion of illegal alien foreign nationals. You seem to be only concerned about Austin. Short sightedness and ignorance on your part.

Why did you move from ol'Austin ? Why not come back and be a good citizen to this town?

You go ahead a expell your hate for the nazis. I dislike them and all dictators..and always did. There are many other worst people in this world that I dispise as well.

You can spit your hate for whoever you want. You can lie to yourself all you want. But realize this ....the brown booted guys are not the real danger to you or America.

If you just wakeup and stick your head out of the "little po-dunk town" in southern Minnesota...you would begin to realize that your county needs people with your fire...to fight against an internal enemy that is dangerous to all of us.

In the mean time....get some help... you are very unhappy.

Remember this: Illegal aliens are not a "race". Race is only in question when people like you make it an issue.. because you have no Legal position to stand on or to debate. The word "racist" is old...millions of people do not run and hide when liberals spit the word. Take a good look at yourself.

Can you debate facts and have any common sense. If so, I would be delighted to meet with you and educate you.

You are not even reading my posts. The subject is "ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION of foreign nationals invading America.

Just because most all of these invaders are Mexican ....you think that you can scream racism. You seem to think that you can call names and labels whenever you wish. You are the bigot and a liar.

If your people are here legally ....good. Welcome to America. If they are here Illegally....then get out. Simple as that.

Please exercise your right to make a jerk of yourself. And I will continue to excersise my right to stand up for Ameria.

Look around you coop....you and your kind are losing the war against ILLEGAL invasion. Whatever you spit out and scream about ..is only your racism and hate for America.
Your words describe who you are and what you are.

Illegal Immigration is not a race. Only idiots like you want it to be.
