Austin's Ball makes All-WIAC football team

MENOMONIE — Austin grad Marcus Ball was one of 10 UW-Stout football players who were named to the 2009 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) football team, five to the first team, three to the second team and two honorable mention.

Ball, a defensive end repeated as a first team choice.

He was also named to the D3football.com team of the week after a 27-24 Stout win over UW-Oshkosh, Nov. 14.

Despite missing one complete game and parts of others because of a preseason injury, Ball finished the regular season as the WIAC's sacks leader for the second consecutive season, racking up 9.5 sacks. Double-teamed when he was on the field, Ball was fifth in the conference in tackles for loss with 12.5. Ball also forced three fumbles and recovered one. Ball recorded his first career interception and returned that for a 14-yard touchdown against UW-Platteville. Ball also played in three games as blocking fullback and did
