Police look for man after alleged abduction attempt

Austin police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to abduct a female elementary school student near Neveln school Tuesday.

The suspect allegedly pulled up to the girl around 3:50 p.m. on 19th Street Northeast near First Avenue in a red sedan and told her to get in, according to a police press release.

The student ran back to the school and alerted staff.

According to the release, the suspect is roughly 20 years old, white, with short brown hair and acne or a red facial complexion.

Police chief Paul Philipp said a photo lineup was done Tuesday evening but with negative results.

He added that the investigation is ongoing.
