Little Red Ridinghood, Jack (of Beanstalk fame), Rapunzel, Cinderella, the Wicked Witch and the Baker and his wife collide on stage this weekend.

The Austin High School Drama Club presents “Into The Woods” at 7 p.m in Christgau Hall Friday through Sunday.

“We have a lot of talented singers, so this play, or musical, was really the best fit for the drama club,” director Heather Niebuhr said.

Audiences should expect a lot of choreography and musical numbers.

“It’s really pretty entertaining,” Niebuhr said.

Inspired by Bruno Bettelheim's 1976 book, The Uses of Enchantment, the Tony Award-winning “Into The Woods” is a tale that intertwines the plots of many Brothers Grimm fairy tales.

It is a mixture of new and old storybook characters who embark together on a journey of growth and self-discovery.

Niebuhr said some of the actors performed the same show when they were at Ellis Middle School.

She said they are happy to put together the show again.

“We’re all very excited,” Niebuhr said.

The Austin High School Drama Club presents “Into The Woods” at 7 p.m in Christgau Hall Friday Nov. 13 through Sunday Nov. 15. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students.
