Jordyn Krekling of Hayfield has made a verbal commitment to the Minnesota State University women’s basketball team.

The 5-10 guard averaged 13.2 points for the 21-7 Vikings in 2009 and was HVL all-conference the past two seasons. She was named to the AA All-Tournament team at the state tournament in 2008.

Krekling played with MN Fury Canton in the 2009 club season this past summer.

She will join Fury teammate Lizzie Stenhaug (Rochester Century) at MSU Mankato.

The Mavericks, a Division II team that plays in Mankato, Minn., are currently ranked No. 6 in the USA Today ESPN Poll. They won their first ever National Championship last season and play in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
