Vietnam veterans invited to picnic

NORTHWOOD, Iowa — Vietnam vets and Vietnam-era veterans from around the region are invited to attend Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day on Sunday afternoon, June 14, at 1 p.m. for a free picnic social.
The fifth-annual barbecue picnic, sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, local Chapter 790, will be held this year at the Swensrud Park in Northwood Iowa. The June 14 date is chosen every year as it is known and celebrated as Flag Day.
A grilled menu of burgers, brats, hot dogs, beans and lemonade will be furnished with folks asked to bring salads, sides or desserts to share. Serving to begin at about 1 p.m.
Family members or guests are very welcome too.
Flags, military hats, etc. also will also be available.
