Wagner using technology for new book

Published Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Michael J. Wagner’s recently released book, “Your Money Day One: How to Start Right and End Rich,” is also now available as an audio download from retailers including iTunes and audible.com.

“If you are going to reach teens, you need to use technology,” the former Austin resident said.

“More than 60 percent of teens have an iPod or MP3 player, making a downloadable audiobook an ideal way to engage them.”

Wagner’s book is a how to guide on personal finance for the 40 million young adults, ages 15-23, that poses the question, “Will you control your money or will your money control you?”

A lifecoach who conducts an afterschool program in South Los Angeles at Manual Arts High School, in his book, Wagner emphasizes the importance of budgeting, the financial pitfalls of credit card debt, the dangers of living outside your means and the early establishment of savings habits to lead to a successful financial future.

“We are in a cycle of financial ignorance, one we can ill afford to continue,” he said.

“Our current focus is on unemployment, foreclosures, bankruptcies and bailout money, with little emphasis being placed on education and prevention for the next generation.”
