Austin boys win big at Albert Lea

Junior forward Connor Gunderson and senior forward Marcus Gunderson scored in double figures for Austin Saturday as the Packers won easily 66-31 at Albert Lea.

Austin led at halftime 34-12.

“We jumped on them early,” said Kris Fadness, AHS head coach. “We got out to a quick 18-4 lead to start the game and really never looked back.”

Albert Lea turned the ball over 21 times in the contest, including 15 in the first half.

Connor led the Packers with 16 points, while Marcus contributed 12.

“They’re a pretty young team, and our kids played well,” Fadness said.

With the win, Austin moves to 2-0 in conference play and 4-1 overall.

Will Felten scored seven points for the Packers; Kevin Lyke scored six; Nate Justice scored five; Chris Jahr scored four; T.J. Fritz scored four; Jamaal Gibson scored three; Zach Fadness scored three; Tim Erickson scored two; Steven Rizzi scored two and Max Coffey scored two.
