Swanson lifts Larks

Grand Meadow’s Alex Swanson delivered in the clutch to spark her team to a 47-46 win over Mount Horeb, Wis. in the first round of the Lewiston Auto/Warrior Club Holiday Basketball Tournament at Winona State University Monday.
Swanson beat the buzzer after she received a pass from Kristine Gerber with about three seconds left.
GM (5-3 overall) had led by as many as nine in the second half, but Mount Horeb took a 46-45 lead on a lay-up by Maddie Meylor, who scored 13, with four seconds left in the game.
Allison Glynn had nine points and nine rebounds for the Larks, who will play Cochrane-Fountain City, Wis. Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Winona State.
GM scoring: Abbie Fay, 23; Alex Swanson, 11; Allison Glynn, 9; Kristine Gerber, 3; Kristina Stier, 1; free throws: 47 percent (8-for-17)
