The Blooming Prairie boys basketball team looked like a different squad than it did on its opener when it took on Medford on the road Friday.

The Awesome Blossoms (1-1 overall, 1-0 Gopher) improved in almost every aspect of the game from their 20-point loss to Montgomery/Lonsdale as they took Medford down 64-39.

In their opener, the Blossoms had no players score in double figures, they shot 30 percent from the field and they had just four assists as a team. On Friday they had three players score in double figures, hit 46 percent from the field, and had 16 assists as a team.

“We had good shots against Montgomery/Lonsdale, but we didn’t hit them,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “Tonight we moved the ball well and we hit our shots.”

Justen Ingvalson led BP with six points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals, while Cooper Nelson scored a career-high 22 points, Isaac Clark scored a career-high 13 points, and Jeffery Doerhoefer had a career-high 10 points.

The defense of Rudy Vasquez and Dudley Smith was also key for BP, as they held Medford’s top scorer, Garret Taylor, to just three points.

BP scoring: Cooper Nelson, 22; Isaac Clark, 13; Jeffery Doerhoefer, 10; Aaron Krejci, 6; Justen Ingvalson, 6; Rudy Vasquez, 2; Gabe Kartes, 2; Luke Huemann, 2; Tim Bocker, 1
