Low-cost rabies clinic this week

Published Saturday, September 20, 2008

Rabies — it’s a worldwide problem. An estimated 55,000 people die from rabies each year. That’s one every 10 minutes.

Dr. Mike Williams and Double K Specialty in Austin are observing World Rabies Day by sponsoring a low-cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27.

Double K will also host police dog demonstrations by city and county K-9s at 5 p.m. Sept. 26 and 11 a.m. Sept. 27. Double K, in partnership with Eukanuba, has been a long-time donor to local law enforcement’s trips to national K-9 competitions.

The City of Austin will be on hand so dog owners can apply for reduced-price licenses, as required by law when receiving the vaccinations.

No appointment is necessary. Pets must be a least 4 months old.
