LeRoy/Ostrander wins Hayfield volleyball invite

The LeRoy/Ostrander volleyball team (8-1 overall) won the eight team Hayfield Invite when it knocked off the host Vikings 25-19, 25-22 in the title game Saturday.
The Cardinals went undefeated in pool play, beating Goodhue 25-16, knocking off Southland 25-20, 25-23, and beating Albert Lea 25-17, 25-19.
“We are really playing well as a team,” L/O head coach Lisa Swenson said. “Our coverage is getting figured out and the girls are moving to the spots that that they need to be in. We need to continue with our communication and we should have a very good season.”
Kaylee Bunne had 28 kills for L/O, Krista Bunne had 24 kills, Toni Blood had 20 kills, Alana Roe had 13 kills, Maggie Olson had nine kills, McKinzie Bunne had 107 assists, Mary Scaglione had 50 digs, and Kyle Grant had 20 digs.
The Lyle/Pacelli volleyball team (0-6 overall) lost all four of its matches at Hayfield, falling to the Vikings 12-25, 21-25, losing to Blooming Prairie 19-25, 8-25, falling to Lewiston/Altura 11-25, 22-25, and bowing out to Albert Lea 12-25, 23-25 in the seventh place match.
“There’s a good chance we’ll run into some of these teams in the Sections or Subsections,” L/P head coach Carl Ellis said. “If we would’ve brought our ‘A’ game, we might have won some games.”
Alexis Balgeman had 27 assists and 36 digs for L/P, Autumn Weinmann had nine kills and 13 digs, Brenna Bartholomew had 10 kills and 29 digs, Haley Meyer had 10 kills and 14 digs, Brianna Cook had eight kills and 13 digs, and Amanda Wunderlich had 21 digs.
The Southland volleyball team (3-4 overall) took sixth place as it fell to L/A 21-25, 24-26 in its last game of the day.
The Rebels beat Albert Lea 25-11, 28-26, but lost to Goodhue 16-25, 14-25 and L/O in pool play.
“It was not a good day for us,” Southland head coach Angie Smith said. “We were slow and we got outhustled. We didn’t move our feet.”
Chelsey Smith had 10 kills for the Rebels.
The Blooming Prairie volleyball team (5-2 overall) took fourth place as it fell to Goodhue 19-25, 21-25 in its last match.
The Awesome Blossoms beat L/P and Lewiston/Alutra 25-22, 25-21 in pool play, while losing to Hayfield 23-25, 28-30.
Marie Morem had 27 kills and nine digs for BP, Kassie Lueth had 24 kills, four ace blocks, and 20 digs, Jordan Noble had 69 assists and nine digs, Lynnae Nelson had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Trisha Roecker had 18 digs.
Hayfield (4-3 overall) got to the title game by beating BP, L/A 25-14, 13-25, 15-13, and L/P in pool play.
Kiley Severson had 32 kills and four blocks for the Vikings, Jordyn Krekling had 23 kills, seven blocks, 27 digs and nine aces, Molly Streightiff had 19 kills, 47 assists and four blocks, Liz Ristau had 15 kills and six blocks and Jessica Lee had 28 assists.
