The Blooming Prairie football team hit its stride in a 62-25 win at St. James Friday night.
The Awesome Blossoms (1-1 overall) got over 400 yards of offense and six touchdowns from their senior quarterback Austin Moe. Moe broke two long scoring runs of 70- and 90-yards in a third quarter that saw BP blow the game open.
“We’re using Austin a little more in the running game this year,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said. “Offensively, we just clicked at the right time tonight. They didn’t have an answer for the spread.”
Moe ran for three scores and threw for three more, finding Toquam, Justin Ingvalson — who also ran for a TD, and Robert Hofius on scoring throws.
BP jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back.
Freshman running back Gabe Kartes scored a TD for BP in the win.
As a team, BP ran for 441 yards and threw for 238. As a team, St. James ran for 169 yards and threw for 201 yards.
