Controlled burn leads to Rose Creek barn fire
Published Thursday, September 4, 2008
A controlled burn of house materials at a rural Rose Creek residence led to a barn fire Wednesday, according to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, who said only part of the roof was destroyed by the blaze.
Amazi said Rose Creek Fire Department responded to 19478 600th Ave., Rose Creek around 10:50 a.m. The fire started, the sheriff said, as residents were burning materials from a home they demolished on the property.
There were no damage estimates, though about a quarter of the barn’s roof will be removed, Amazi said.
No one was injured. The fire department extinguished the burn without incident.
