The Blooming Prairie volleyball team (3-0 overall, 1-0 Gopher Conference) prevailed from an early hole in a five-game win over Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton (1-1 overall) by scores of 26-24, 25-27, 18-25, 27-25, 15-8 in BP Thursday night.
The Awesome Blossoms took an early 3-0 lead in the fifth game and never looked back.
“We knew we had to come out and get ahead early and we did that,” BP head coach Gina McLaughlin said. “That was our best hitting and best serving game of the night. We have good hitters, but you have to get them the ball.”
BP faced losing the match in game four when they fell behind 25-24 after J/W/P scored three in a row. But after forcing a sideout, Sara Sorensen came off the bench and served the last two points for BP.
“We were in a must win situation,” McLaughlin said.
BP won the first game when Marie Morem — who finished with 17 kills — came up with a kill to score the 26th point.
Kassie Lueth had 16 kills and five digs for BP, Trisha Roeker had 14 kills and eight digs, and Jordan Noble had 54 assists and two aces.
