St. Lucia Festival celebrates heritage

Published Saturday, November 15, 2008

Southern Minnesota’s largest St. Lucia Festival returns to the Paramount Theatre stage Friday, Nov. 28.

This Swedish festival of lights helps to brighten up the long winter nights in December. It celebrates the life of a real saint, Lucia, who was known for her kindness and love.

The Sons of Norway-Storting Lodge will present the festival.

Special guests will be the Jane Taylor Academy’s dancers.

More than 75 participants, ages 5 to 18, will perform.

Two German exchange students, Jessica Jasizzec and Johanna Martin, have lead roles in the festival.

Madlaine Howard is the director.

Admission to the Nov. 28 Paramount Theatre performance is free.

For more information, contact Howard at (507) 325-1694.
