Published Friday, November 7, 2008
Riverland Generations will sponsor the presentation “Journaling for the Ages” on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The program will discuss ways to journal that make your life’s story a fun exciting, humorous or poignant journey. Presentation topics include: what to document, how to document and various writing styles.
The presentation will begin at the Riverland Austin Campus West Building, room A237. Admission is $5, call 433-0602 or (800) 247-5039 to pre-register. The deadline for advanced registration is Nov. 18. Walk-ins will be accepted based on space availability.
The presenter, Sue Bersieker (aka J.S. Deaton), has published a trilogy of fantasy novels, “The Call,” “The Promise” and “The Restoration.” She is at work on her fourth novel. In her spare time, she teaches community education classes on writing and publishing in southern Minnesota and also speaks about these topics at area schools. She lives in Owatonna.
Bersieker graduated from a small college in south-central Minnesota and uses her experiences extensively in her writing. She is also a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature in West Redding, Conn. Her favorite stories to write are fantasies, with strong moral characters that get through life using their brain, muscles and sense of humor.
Generations programming is in collaboration with KSMQ public television.
