Austin city administrator Jim Hurm is one of five finalists for a city administrator job in Rosemount, Minn.
Thisweek Newspapers reported that the Rosemount City Council narrowed the field to five last week, with the expectation that members will make a final decision July 22.
Austin’s city administrator since 2003, Hurm said he decided to apply after being recruited for the position.
“It’s always a good experience, and you learn a lot from the process,” he said.
He added, however, that he thought the job was a long shot.
“If that 10 percent chance that I am offered the position, I don’t want to leave,” he said. “My God, I love my house, I love my work. …”
Hurm has served as city administrator for nearly three decades in municipalities across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
According to Thisweek, other candidates include Kim Lindquist, Rosemount’s interim city administrator; Dwight Johnson, former Homer Glen, Ill., village administrator; Michael Mornson, St. Anthony, Minn., city manager; and James Norman, Afton interim city administrator.
