Austin to host RV rally
Published Saturday, July 5, 2008
The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the American Coach Chapter of Family Motor Coaches of America will be holding their Summer 2008 Pre-Rally Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11. The site of the RV Rally will be the Mower County Fairgrounds.
At the conclusion of the Austin Rally, the RVs head to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds for the National FMCA Rally. Austin will see approximately 50 state-of-the-art, ultra-modern RV units pulling into town.
There will be as many as 5,000 RVs from all over the U.S. participating in the National Rally in St. Paul July 14-17. The big rally will be the group’s 40th annual national rally.
While in Austin, the RV travelers, who are coming in from across the country, will tour our local attractions, dine in our restaurants, purchase gas, and use the services of area entertainers such as the Spamettes, sound technicians and a local DJ.
The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau office began working on the rally’s arrangements in mid-2006. Bob Gay of Topeka, Kan., is the Central Area Director of the American Coach Chapter of FMCA. Bob and Diana have already settled out at the fairgrounds and are ready to greet their members as they begin arriving.
While convening at the fairgrounds, there will be 2009 RV coaches on display, as well as dealers on the grounds. Contact the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau at 437-4563 for more information.

Yes, let's promote gas hogs. Well, it is the place for the barrow show. So I guess that is an appropriate location.
