Roy Charles Weber, 69

Roy Charles Weber, 69, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Roy Charles Weber was born Feb. 6, 1949, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Thomas and Hazel (Warrens) Weber. Roy married Anne Wagner on Feb. 6, 1971. Roy attended college at Mankato State University and received his master of education from the University of South Dakota. Roy was an elementary teacher, a high school wrestling and baseball coach and junior high school football coach. Roy taught at Luverne, Minnesota, from 1980 to 1982 and in Rock Valley from 1982 to 2010.

He enjoyed teaching and coaching children about his favorite topics, history and literature, and his favorite sports, wrestling, baseball and football. After his retirement from teaching and coaching, he worked part time for St. Mary’s Catholic Church, mowing the church and cemetery lawns and doing church maintenance.

Roy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anne; his children, Roy “R.C.’” (Rhiannon) Weber of Sioux Falls and Elizabeth (Trevor) Rolfes of Eagan, Minnesota; grandchildren, Payton, Cael, Sawyer and Kyra; sister, Linda (David) Christiansen of St. Cloud, Minnesota; brother, Scott (Kari) Weber of Austin; mother-in-law, Sharon Wagner of Austin; sister-in-law, Deborah Burroughs of Milaca, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hazel; and brothers, Andrew Lamb and George Lamb.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Valley with Father Douglas Klein officiating. Visitation, with the family present, will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be held on a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Austin.
