As the calendar rolls into December, shining lights and festive decorations fill the town while a multitude of holiday events flood our calendars. ‘Tis the season for family and community, and in that festive tradition, the Austin Public Schools Music Department is proud to present the third annual Christmas at Home show.

This year, the show will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Historic Paramount Theatre. Both shows feature a wide selection of student groups, faculty performances, and many talented community musicians.

Friday’s show will include performers such as the Austinaires, Jazz One, Ellis Early Bird Choir, Riverland Music Ensemble, Amanda Corey, Emma Anderson, Tony Huizinga, Faculty Jazz, Faculty Quartet and Taylor Bliese.

Saturday afternoon’s performance will include the La Fiera String Ensemble, The Braatens, The Smith Family and Friends, Ecumenical Bell Ensemble, Cindi Christianson, Morgan Dickman, Huizinga Family, Northwestern Singers, Alice Holst, Nikky Tolde and Ben Maulke.

A full lineup can be found online at http://www.austinareaarts.org.

This holiday event would not be possible without the generous support of local businesses and patrons. The APS Music Department is thankful that the funds raised from ticket sales will go back to our students in music programs in grades 1-12.

The funds from the previous two years have been used to purchase instruments and music benefiting all students in our programs.

Tickets can be purchased at the Austin Artworks Center, Paramount Box Office, or online at http://www.austinareaarts.org. Adult tickets are $15 and student tickets are $5 in advance. Tickets will also be available at the door before the concerts at the price of $20 for adults and $5 for students.

It is our pleasure to give the gift of music to our community this holiday season, and it is our hope that this concert will bring joy and provide a time for families to celebrate together.

We are tremendously thankful for the support Austin gives the arts each year and we hope many will attend the concerts this season. We hope you will make time to enjoy a nostalgic Christmas at Home concert this weekend.
