Jim Richard Crews, 61, of Lyle, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at Rochester East Health Services in Rochester, Minnesota.

Jim was born April 7, 1956, in Austin, Minnesota, to Gerald and Leona (Sargent) Crews. Jim attended Austin schools. At an early age Jim went to work for his father in the family business, Crews Auto Salvage in Austin. On Sept. 10, 1983, he was united in marriage to Tracey Lynn Peters at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Jim and Tracey resided in Austin and later Lyle. He continued to work for the family business until poor health forced him to retire early. Jim treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Tracey; daughters, Jamie Crews of Bricelyn, Minnesota, and Amy Crews of Austin; grandchildren Jaden, Kaden, David, Geronimo, Dakoda, and Riley; brothers Darrell (Jean) Crews of Lyle, Ramon (Sue) Crews of Waltham, Minnesota, Robert (Valinda) Crews of Austin, and Roger (Sandy) Crews of Stacyville, Iowa; sisters, Marlys Staffon of Austin, Audrey Tindal of Austin, Charlene Krueger of Austin, Dawn Taylor of Austin, Renae Janey of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and Betty (Bill) Hanson of Austin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Lois Peters of Austin; sister-in-law, Rhonda Grandy of Helena, Montana; brother-in-law, Robert (Marla) Peters of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends, He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gary; and granddaughter, Ava.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Interment will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the recipient of the donor’s choice. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
