Blue Devils drop home opener to Luther College JV

The Riverland Community College women’s basketball team is still looking to find its proper footing in its first season since 2015 as the Blue Devils lost to Luther College JV 101-43 in their first home game in two years in Riverland Gym Monday.

Luther opened the game on a 19-2 run and it led 37-9 after the first quarter. The Blue Devils outscored Luther 17-14 in the third quarter, but it was too little, too late.

Hayfield grad Sophia Waldner had 16 points, six rebounds and one block for RCC (0-3 overall), Patrick Henry grad Juantanay Prado had 12 points and nine rebounds and LeRoy-Ostrander grad Sam Siskow had eight points and two steals.

RCC will play at NIACC Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
