The first Austin High School Bands mattress fundraiser was a success, despite some apprehension about buying “big ticket items” from a fundraiser, according to Director Christoph Dundas.

In just seven hours, band members sold 24 beds, eight pillows and three sets of sheets, which might not sound like much volume, but was enough to net $3,200 for the Austin High School Bands.

The band staff will continue to follow up with customers to find out how the delivery process goes and how the new beds are after a few months. If they hear good things, the music department will make it into an annual fundraiser, Dundas said.
