Bruins sneak past Wings

A goal in both the first and second periods gave Austin the 2-1 win in the first of two weekend games against the Aberdeen Wings Friday night at Riverside Arena.

However, it was Aberdeen that struck first when Adam Pitters scored at 3:20 in the opening period to give the Wingers the 1-0 lead.

Austin’s Benito Pos answered later in the period to tie the game with a goal at 11:06.

Valdemar Ahlberg scored what would be the game-winner towards the end of the second period.

Aberdeen had the edge in shots, peppering Bruins goalie Mads Sogaard with 34 shots. Sogaard ended the night with 33 saves.

Austin is now 2-3-1-2 with the second game of the series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night at Riverside Arena.
