Sharon Sue Lewis, 76, of rural Austin, Minnesota, died at her home on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.

Sharon was born May 15, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota, to James and Mildred (Christensen) Wencl. She graduated from Austin High School in 1959. Sharon married William Lewis on the Lewis family farm on July 14, 1979.

She worked several years as a secretary for KNXR Radio in Rochester; later, she was a homemaker and helped Bill on the farm.

She was an active member of the Mower County Historical Society, the Mower County Humane Society and she was a member of the Home Extension Group.

Sharon enjoyed taking care of her farm kitties, doing counted cross-stitch, playing 500, and collecting cow figurines. She loved spending time on her farm.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Stacy Ann Bennett, Richfield, Minnesota; sisters, Paulette Lee, Bloomington, Minnesota, Linda (Paul) Beyer, Austin, and Darci Rehagen, Tennessee; brother, Dennis (Patti) Wencl, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Barbara Lewis, Austin, Kathy Wencl, Austin, and Audrey Wencl, Missouri; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mildred Wencl; husband, William; and brothers, Jerry Wencl and Gary Wencl.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Dennis Tamke and the Rev. Beth Perez officiating. Interment will be at Lansing Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Clasen- Jordan Mortuary, and for one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the Mower County Humane Society, Mower County Historical Society or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
