An Austin couple faces charges of possession of stolen property and fifth-degree assault following an incident on Wednesday in which the man allegedly pointed a gun at another man.

The woman, Jenssy Mejia, 31, also is being held on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement warrant. Both are in the Mower County Jail.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, a resident on the 1400 block of 10th Avenue Northwest reported Raul Pena, 34, and Mejia came to his residence and displayed a 9 mm handgun. He said there was a dispute over a $4,000 debt and Pena allegedly pulled the gun from his waistband. The man called police at 10:22 p.m.

Pena and Mejia left in a tan GMC Arcadia, according to the victim. Police did not find the couple at their Austin residence, but police saw the couple, and a teenager, walking down a nearby alley on the 800 block of Fourth Avenue Southwest. Police found a .199 Baretta pellet gun in a nearby yard. It was not clear initially who owned the gun.

The GMC was located in a driveway on the 1100 block of Second Avenue Southwest. The resident at the address said it did not belong to him. Police determined the vehicle was stolen from Kansas City, Mo.
