Albert Lea theatre announces auditions for ‘Rumors’

ALBERT LEA — Albert Lea Community Theatre (ACT) has announced that auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 28 and 29 for the comedy  “Rumors “ at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in Albert Lea.

Directed by Rory Mattson, eight performances of this Neil Simon comedy are scheduled for Oct. 19-28. There are roles for five men and five women in the show. Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script.

Rehearsals will be scheduled weeknights, with some weekend involvement closer to the performance dates.

In the play, the deputy mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of farce. Gathering for their tenth anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. A lawyer and his wife must get  “the story “ straight before the other guests arrive.
