ST. PAUL — Ninety members represented Mower County 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair during the 4-H Livestock Encampment last week. Many came home with metals and ribbons from a wide-variety of events.

“Mower County 4-H members had an exceptional year at the Minnesota State Fair 4-H Livestock Encampment,” said first-year Mower County 4-H Program Coordinator April Johnson. “A special thanks to all of the parents, mentors, chaperones, supporters and others who helped make this experience possible for our members.”

The competitions are not over by a long shot, however. More area youth will head to the State Fair to compete in many other categories on Thursday.

By the numbers

Minnesota 4-Hers from 87 counties brought more than 2,843 animals to the State Fair’s 4-H livestock encampment Wednesday, Aug. 23 – Sunday Aug. 27. The number of livestock exhibits over the weekend included:
