The Riverland Community College baseball team swept a doubleheader from St. Mary’s College JV by scores of 3-0 and 6-5 and Seltz Field Thursday.

Mason Ruhlman, a freshman from Algonac, Mich., had a huge day for the Blue Devils (9-2 overall). Ruhlman had a two-run hit in the bottom of the seventh to win the nightcap and he pitched four shutout innings to win that game on the mound. Ruhlman finished the day with his fourth homer of the season and seven total RBIs.

“Offensively Mason Ruhlman absolutely carried us,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “He hit bomb into the wind in the first game. He works his tail off and he’s always taking extra swings. He’s there every morning at 8 a.m. and it’s paying off for him right now.”
