“I Love Rock and Roll” will be the theme of the annual Austinaires spring show, to be held at 7 p.m.  April 6, 7 and 8 at Christgau Hall at Austin High School.

The show, under the direction of Brian Johnson, features classics from rock ’n’ roll history, including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Beach Boys, Journey, 1980s girls rock bands, Michael Jackson and more.

Each night also spotlights talented senior soloists from the Austinaires and Choralaires.

One of the soloists is Abby Deyo, who will sing a rendition of 3 Non Blonds’ “What’s Up?” She will get help from her brothers, Max and Gabe, who are music alumni of AHS.

Kassie Fate is another featured soloist, who will sing “At Last,” made popular by the late Etta James.

Pat Sheehan adds his talents with Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’,” and Arn Huizinga will, said Johnson, “pull out all the stops” with the Julie London standard, “Cry Me a River,” via a Michael Buble arrangement.

“There is something for every generation,” said Johnson.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Hy-Vee Foods and the AHS cashier’s window.
