Helen Vernelia Nebergall (Beadell), 90

Helen Vernelia Nebergall (Beadell), 90, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

Helen was born May 8, 1926, in Austin to Clarence and Lillian (Garrison) Beadell. She graduated from Austin High School and then attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked in advertising at Sears and at the Austin Daily Herald where her father was the editor. She worked many years at Faith Christian School as a teacher. She was also known for her floral and wedding art, providing the flowers for many of Austin’s wedding couples.

She was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church of Austin where she taught Sunday school, Awana, and Vacation Bible School. She also held JOY Club in her home for neighborhood children for many years. Helen was instrumental in the founding of the non-profit Rachel’s Hope.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Beverly Hillmer.

Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ralph Nebergall, Austin; son, James Nebergall, Red Oak, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Stephen Payne, Roseville, Minnesota; brother-in-law, John Hillmer; nieces and nephews, Sue and Denny Hendriksen, John and Bonnie Hillmer, Sandy and Chip Hungerford, and Penny and John Quirk; many great nieces and nephews; special friends, Becki and Dave Pearson and children; and special caregivers, Anne Koch and Jan Demarce.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 7 at Grace Baptist Church, 1700 W. Oakland Ave, Austin, with Pastor Devin Larsen officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Friday.
