Easter weekend is upon us, and there are several opportunities to celebrate in Austin.

Westminster Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Easter egg hunt event and celebration on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. This event has taken place every Easter for over 20 years.

“This event draws about 300 people on average per year,” said Cinde Goskeson, Christian education director at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Activities at this year’s event include photo booths, a duck pond, face painting, ring toss, and a cookie walk in a carnival atmosphere. Kids can also enjoy Rice Krispies treats and juice while watching a puppet and magic show presented by Jim Jayes.

Westminster Senior Pastor Michael Olmsted will tell the Easter story.

Children will be provided with a gift bag to participate in the Easter egg hunt. Goskeson said over 1,000 eggs will be hidden.

Visitors will be able to enter into a prize drawing for gift cards. Goskeson said you must be present to win.

All children are required to be accompanied by an adult during this event.

The event is free and open to all members of the community.

“We welcome everyone to enjoy a family event,” Goskeson said.
