Walter L. Underdahl, 96 of Adams, Minnesota, died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Walter Leland Underdahl was born May 4, 1920, near Elkton, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Isabel (Anderson) Underdahl. He attended school in the Elkton and Adams areas. Walter served in the U.S. Army from February 1942 through October 1945. He married Norma Jean Anderson on April 2, 1954, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams.

Walter was a lifelong member of Marshall Lutheran Church and a 70 year member of the Adams American Legion Post No. 146. He worked in the Adams and Austin areas as a self-employed carpenter.

Walter is survived by sons: Charles (Roz) Underdahl of De Soto, Kansas, Dennis (Amy) Underdahl of Adams, Minnesota; daughter, Patricia (Gary) Kulow of Adams, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Underdahl of California; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl (Olie) and Isabel Underdahl, wife Norma, sisters and brother-in-law, Eleonore Underdahl, Leona and Roy Gordon, brothers and sister-in-law, Philip Underdahl, Donald and Ruby Underdahl.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Marshall Lutheran Cemetery with Adams American Legion Post No. 146 in charge of military honors. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday morning. Memorials are preferred to the Marshall Lutheran Church.
