Nothing found after report of shots fired

Austin police received two reports of shots being fired Thursday night.

According to Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May, who reported on the incident for the police, two different calls from the 400 and 500 blocks of First Street Southwest were made to dispatch beginning at 10:23 p.m., saying they could hear gunshots being fired.

Four officers responded to the calls, but could not find any shell casings or any indication of something wrong.

Police also responded to a shed break-in at 9:35 p.m. on the 2000 block of First Avenue Southeast. Two floor jacks, valued at $10, were found missing. The lock on the shed had been broken off.
