Let’s Party: Foodie Throwdown celebrating special anniversary

Published 10:06 am Thursday, February 16, 2017

It’s almost time for another Foodie Throwdown — and a special anniversary.

The Hormel Historic Home will be the site for the sixth annual edition of the event on Saturday, with lots of good food, music and auctions.

This year will have a special flair, since it will also honor the 125th wedding anniversary of George and Lillian Hormel. “Anniversary Party,” therefore, is the theme for this year’s throwdown — and George and Lillian will be there to greet you at the door, according to organizers.

The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs through 8:30 p.m.

Six teams will compete by preparing their best dishes, which will be voted upon by those attending.

Teams will be led by the following chefs: Kristine Wolner, Wade Kolander, Leah Erickson, Terri Bergstrom and Darin Grimm, the Austin Country Club and Amy Riley.

After diners have sampled the main dish and dessert selections, attendees can choose their favorite in each category.

Silent and live auctions will benefit the preservation and mission of the Hormel Historic Home.

Tickets are $35 and are limited. For information, call 507-433-4243.
