The Austin swimming and diving team came up with one state qualifier at the Section 1A finals in Rochester Friday.

Austin senior Maddie Mullenbach clinched her first ever trip to the Class A swimming and diving meet when she took second in the section meet. Mullenbach is the defending all-around state champ in Class A gymnastics, but she just took on diving for the first time last season. Her score of 347.30 on Friday was 23 points ahead of Kenna Burmeister of St. Peter, who took third. Faribault’s Sophia Steinberg won the Section 1A meet with a score of 380.35.
