Mary Jo Fasbender, 44, of Adams, Minnesota, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, 2016, at her home in Adams, surrounded by her family.

Mary Jo was born July 14, 1972, in Rochester, Minnesota, to Norm and Pat (Manning) Fasbender. She graduated from Hayfield High School in 1990 and received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mankato State University in 1995. Mary Jo married Shawn Smith on May 31, 1997, in Rochester, Minnesota. She was a caseworker for Olmsted County Human Services.

She was a member of Marshall Lutheran Church. Mary Jo enjoyed spending time with her boys. She liked to bake, chat with her neighbors and go for walks. She liked to watch Survivor, The Bachelor and Grey’s Anatomy. She helped other people in need and supported the Eagles Cancer Telethon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norm Fasbender, paternal grandparents, Vincent and Florence Fasbender, maternal grandparents, Henry and Frances Manning and uncles, John and James Manning.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Shawn Fasbender, Adams, Minnesota; sons, Cody Fasbender, Rochester, Minnesota, Dylan Fasbender, Adams, Minnesota, Logan Fasbender, Adams, Minnesota and Colton “Bubba”  Fasbender, Adams, Minnesota; mother, Pat Fasbender, Lanesboro, Minnesota; brothers, Scott (Kyja) Fasbender, Elk Mound, WI, and Tim (Becky) Fasbender, Boyceville, Wisconsin; sister, Tracy (Trent) Olson, Lanesboro, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Robin Smith, Lakeridge, Virginia; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota, with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson and the Reverend Donna McGraw Giese officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Adams, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Adams Funeral Home and at the church on Monday for one hour before the service.
