Eugene Samuel McClelland, 77, of Red Wing, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Cannon Falls Hospital.

Eugene Samuel McClelland, 77

He was born on July 7, 1938, in Austin, Minnesota, to Samuel and Dorothy (Lenz) McClelland. He graduated from Austin High School and then worked for IBM in Rochester for 15 years along with dairy farming. On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Ione Lukes. They were married for 46 years. In 1973 they moved to Red Wing where he operated the Red Wing River Towing and Terminal for 25 years. He owned and operated several businesses in Minnesota, including two trailer parks, Ford dealership, car wash, and for several years owned the Corner Bar in Goodhue. He also farmed in northern Minnesota and had his real estate license for several years. He was member of the Red Wing Elks BPOE No. 845. He enjoyed snowmobiling, attending and participating in truck pulls and was a classic car collecting enthusiast. His family recalls how he would enjoy telling jokes, taking people out to eat and how he was always helping out those in need.

Survivors include two children, Sheila Lorentz of Ellsworth and Sam (Shari) McClelland of Red Wing; seven grandchildren, Tucker, Joshua, Zachary, Brady and Levi Lorentz and Riley and Shana McClelland; numerous nieces and nephews; his former wife, Ione McClelland of Red Wing and special friend, Joann Carlson of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Finholt and one brother, Roger.

A celebration of life for Eugene will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Sam McClelland Farm. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to ww.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
