Man arrested after domestic situation; Incident tied to March 31 street closure

An Austin man was arrested over the weekend after a domestic situation March 31.

Austin Police Officers responded to a domestic assault situation on the 600 block of 10th Street Northeast on the morning of March 31, according to Police Captain Dave McKichan.

That morning, police briefly blocked off Austin’s 10th Street Northeast when reportedly responding to the situation.

Then on April 1, a suspect was located on the 200 block of 12th Avenue Southwest. The Special Incident Response Team (SIRT) was called out for the arrest of the suspect.

Along with being arrested for the domestic assault situation, the suspect had three arrest warrants for Mower County and potential possession of a firearm. A .32 caliber handgun was recovered during the arrest.
