The Bulldogs (2-0 overall) broke open the game when they tallied six runs in the top of the fifth inning to enact the 10-run rule.

LP tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning when Tayha Rogne had a ground-out RBI and the Athletics (0-1 overall) were within 5-1 after four innings. LP head coach Jeff Yocom said Monday was the first time his squad had been out to Todd Park this spring as much of their practice time has been spent in the gym so far.

“It was tough, but with us not being outside much, I’m happy with what I saw,” Yocom said. “Girls were trying to get in front of the ball and we made a lot of contact on the ball. It’s coming, but we’re still real young.”

LP, which is fielding a very young squad, was able to limit its miscues and consistently make contact at the plate, which was a positive this early in the year.

“We can see it coming, but there’s still that inning or two that kind of gets us in trouble,” Yocom said.

GM’s Rio Landers was two-for-three with a double and Hattie Voigt was one-for-two with an RBI.
