Authorities arrested an Austin man Sunday afternoon after leading Minnesota State Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 90 for almost 20 miles.

The chase reportedly began near Minnesota Highway 13 in Albert Lea and ended two miles west of the Bricelyn exit.

Robert Wayne Hoium, 57, is being held in the Faribault County jail on charges of fleeing police.

Other charges may be pending, said Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Troy Christianson.

Christianson said troopers initially attempted to stop Hoium after receiving a driving complaint.

Hoium reportedly remained in the westbound lanes of traffic during the chase, other than crossing into the median a few times.

The vehicle, which exceeded 70 mph, was ultimately stopped after being immobilized by authorities.

State Patrol troopers and Faribault County Sheriff’s Office deputies made the arrest.
