ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says it has identified emerald ash borer in another county in the state.

The agency said Monday that staff found larvae of the insect in an ash tree in the southeastern corner of Wabasha County. This is the first time emerald ash borer has been identified in the county.

Wabasha County will be placed under emergency quarantine, limiting movement of firewood and ash material from the county. The Department of Agriculture says 11 other Minnesota counties and Park Point in the city of Duluth are currently under quarantine.
