Inspired by cancer patients and their dedicated caregivers, Paint the Town Pink decided to create a Caregiver Appreciation Day to give support staff who care for those going through cancer treatment.

“It takes a very special heart to do the work the nurses do in the cancer units,” Finley in a press release.

Caregivers received decorated cupcakes and chocolate from The Hormel Institute that includes ingredients with anti-cancer qualities.

Last year, Paint the Town Pink created plum colored ribbon pins for the caregivers and hung multi-colored ribbons from the trees in front of the Medical Centers. This year, Mayo Medical Center in Austin has a display of colorful flags in front of the building to raise awareness of all types of cancer.
