ROCHESTER — The No. 4 seeded Grand Meadow girls basketball team fell behind early as its season came to an end in a 64-32 loss to top-seeded Goodhue in the Section 1A West semifinals in Mayo Civic Center Monday.

The Superlarks (17-11 overall) have a young roster and they were a little overwhelmed early on as the Wildcats (25-4 overall) jumped out to a 17-3 lead to start the game. GM was never able to get back within angle digits, but head coach Ryan Queensland thought the experience was a good one for his team.

“We got up here and got some good experience. We played a great team. Our girls can see what it takes,” he said. “I think it’ll be a productive summer. I think they’ll be busy.”

GM senior Rio Landers, who will play at Dordt College next season, had six points and eight rebounds in her final game for the Superlarks.

“Rio is a good example of hard work,” Queensland said. “She lived in the gym and she worked hard and now she’s going to play at the next level. Hopefully our girls can take away some of that work ethic. She’s going to leave some big holes to fill, but we’ve got a good, young group and I think our future is bright.”

GM freshman Skylar Cotten had 10 points as she hit three three-pointers Monday.
