Girls basketball: Lyle-Pacelli tops Blooming Prairie on senior night

The Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team cruised to a 63-37 win over Blooming Prairie on senior night in Lyle Thursday.

Senior Sarah Holtz had 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in the win for LP (20-3 overall) and senior Courtney Walter had 17 points, three assists and three steals. LP’s senior class has compiled a record of 93-12 over the past four years.

“This was a big game for sections,” LP head coach Justin Morris said. “It’s a huge win for us and I thought our kids really stepped up and played fantastic on senior night. We’ve got a great group of seniors that have basically turned this program around.”

Marissa Larson had 11 points for BP (14-7 overall).

“We got behind early and couldn’t close the gap against one of the best 1A teams in the state,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “We had too many turnovers throughout the game and struggled to rebound the ball.”
