Get ready for some great entertainment this weekend with music, a play and more. Play some Valentine’s bingo, fight cancer at Paint The Rink Pink, and enjoy the weekend out and about.

1. Hot Reads For Cold Nights

The public is invited to participate in this winter reading program for teens and adults. The rules: read or listen to four titles; try something new, enjoy an audiobook, eBook, or eAudiobook (free at the library website, www.austinpubliclibrary.org) for a chance to win prizes. Prizes include gift bags filled with goodies, travel mugs, portable chargers and more. To participate, pick up an official reader’s log bookmark at the Austin Public Library. 2. The Cat’s Pajamas

7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Frank W. Bridges Theatre, RCC Austin

The Cat’s Pajamas will return to Riverland Community College as a part of the group’s 2016 national tour. This vocal band is a five-man a cappella group that has toured around the world since 2005 and has been featured on the “Next Great American Band,” “America’s Got Talent,” and season three of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.” Former Riverland student Donovan Germain sings high tenor for The Cat’s Pajamas. Tickets cost $17 for general audience, $8.50 for high school and elementary students, and are free for Riverland students. For more information, call 507-433-0595.

3. Matchbox Children’s Theater Play

7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, The Historic Paramount Theatre

Matchbox Children’s Theatre in Austin will continue its 41st season with a musical based on the popular children’s book “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.” Performances are 7 p.m. on Friday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the Historic Paramount Theatre in downtown Austin. The stage version stays very true to the book and was adapted for the stage by the author, Judith Viorst, and she also wrote the song lyrics. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for kids 14 and under.

4. Valentine’s Bingo

5-9 p.m. Saturday, Brownsdale Fire Station

Get ready for some Saturday night bingo to start Valentine’s Day off early. Sheets are $1 and there are three games per sheet. There is a cash payout, and the event is fun for all ages. There will also be door prizes every hour.

5. Paint the Rink Pink – Austin Bruins vs Coulee Region Chill

7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Riverside Arena

Get ready as the Austin Bruins take on the Coulee Region Chill. This annual event is held to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research with the help of the Bruins hockey team. Get tickets early, and for more information, call 507-434-4978.

6. Sunday morning brunch

9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Eagles Club or Grace Lutheran Church

Dad’s Belgian Waffles for Paint The Town Pink and the WELCA pancake breakfast will both be hosted Sunday morning. Dad’s Belgian Waffles will have waffles, flavored syrup, whipped topping, sausage, and a beverage will be provided. The event is a free-will donation with a suggested $8. To go orders are available. WELCA pancake breakfast will have pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee and costs $5 per person or $15 per family. Church quilts, greeting cards and utensils will also be on sale.
