The Rochester Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its April 2016 musical production, “Mary Poppins,” at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

This is the Disney and Cameron Mackintosh musical, based on the stories of P. L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film.

This production will feature a large cast with a very diverse age range, including up to two boys and two girls (age 8 to 12), 10 male actors and 10 female actors (ages 20’s to 60’s).  Younger actors can audition alone or with older family members, and actors and actresses age 16 and older are encouraged to audition for the adult roles.

Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Feb. 15.  Performance dates are April 1 through the 24.

 Women on Wednesdays next presentation

The Rochester Civic Theatre’s Civic Live series is pleased to announce the next presentation in the Women on Wednesdays series at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The fourth panel this season is entitled “Incarcerated Women: Is Orange the New Black?” The hit TV show “Orange is the New Black” has proven to be entertaining, but is it realistic?

A panel of those who have actual experience with the jail and prison system will discuss how real life incarceration affects detainees, their families, and the community.

Women on Wednesdays is held at Rochester Civic Theatre’s lobby. Enjoy complimentary appetizers and a cash bar starting at 5 p.m., with the presentation and discussion occurring from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
