Alec Estrada

Through high school I’ve spent much of my time enjoying many of the classes I’ve taken. In high school, I found that I have a passion for literature and history and love getting into discussions with teachers about the things that parts of books symbolized or how today was shaped by what happened in the past.

Activities: In Austin High I am very much involved with the music program, such as being in Austinaires, a group of 24 people who sing and dance around Austin. I am also in Vocal Jazz, another smaller group of singers, and finally concert choir. Other groups that I’m in that are not music oriented are Link Crew, a group of seniors and juniors who let the freshmen feel welcome, and student council. I also love going out and doing different volunteering around town. Very recently, I tried to see if I was any good at plays and did the fall musical for the school. I played General Waverly for White Christmas.

Potential college plans: I hope to attend a four-year university during the fall of 2016, however I haven’t decided which university I wanted to go to quite yet. I’m deciding between North Dakota State University, University of Minnesota, or Iowa State University, where I hope to then get a major in mechanical engineering and a minor in computer science.

A person who has had a positive impact in your academic or school life: A person who has been a huge impact on my life is my mom. She made sure that I stayed on the right track when I was at school and made sure that I tried in my classes so that I could go farther than she did. I love having her come to my events as much as she can and strive to make her proud.

Plans for the future: My plan after college is trying to find a job in the robotics business. I hope to work for a business that primarily works on them from the bottom up. My other plans include going out and exploring much of the world considering I’ve only ever been in North America. I plan on going to Europe this coming summer as a start.
